Our piece of Australian bush

 My first real day of on the school holidays and plan to try and keep kids busy away from electronic gadgets, starting of with a breakfast of fresh eggs from our girls with scrambled eggs on toast.
The weather at the moment has been wild and windy quite scary really.
 I needed some more pine needle mulch so we took a trip out to where my Dad lives on our 5 acres of beautiful Australian bush, the place is a bit over run since Mum passed away but still beautiful.

 Penny , Dads dog is always so excited to see the kids and Tyler loves her.

 Indy took her ipad and took some lovely pictures of different plants. {So much for no electronics}
 A lovely camellia flower
 Mum loved this protea bush the flowers look just amazing

 Have no idea what these are maybe wild flowers
 Sky is looking a bit wild and the wind is quite strong

 Poor old wheelbarrow has seen better days

Gardens are over run with weeds I certainly need to have a working bee some day.
The land is stunningly beautiful though if you love the bush.

  1. I have only seen the bush in WA but agree that it is stunning. I am quite jealous it will be some time before I can return.

  2. Not encouraging electronic gadgets in our kids life and even saying no to them has been one of the hardest but best things we did. It sure has paid off with the kids being creative.

    1. Hi Leanne I agree , I havnt quite managed to keep them free from them but do try to control the use of them. I think I need to get tougher and limit them even more.

  3. Is you Dad lonely lliving on his own. Perhaps he could have a lodger. One that does chores in return for board or rent. It doesnt have to be a permanent thing, just enough to get ready for fire season and get things organised.

    1. Hi Lynda, that is a swear word to Dad , he loves living out there with no one to annoy him lol he isnt fond of visitors he is a bit of a hermit even my visits he is saying isnt it time you went home lol. I have offered for him to come and live with me but no, the shire has offered him to go on bus trips and I tryed to encourage him yesterday but NO WAY was the answer. He does have the council come and mow once a month and they do a bit of whipper snipping as well. My Dad is extremely stubborn , I asked if we should sell and he could move into town but no way. He is male and likes his own way .

    2. How funny. I only know that we (my firm) has 12 acres in Bullengarook (outside Gisborne) and it is all go go go to clear for fire season. I love going out and making several bonfires at a time and getting dirty. He certainly sounds like a character, your Dad.
