The Girls

I love these girls they all have their own personality. The silkies have to be the friendliest by far and love a little nurse , when it suits them of course. They stop right under my feet then squat down waiting to be picked up or patted.
At the moment I have two broody hens not sure if I will put eggs under them I lost the last lot as they got off a week early boo hoo. Usually its only the silkies who have gone broody  and because they are so friendly I can pick the eggs up and pat them while they are sitting. But this wyondotte girl is a different story I went to pat her this morning and she wouldnt have a bar of me she went to peck me this girl is like me after nightshift. She sits there like a zombie and pecks when you go near her.

These two girls have decided they rule the house they eat first bossy buggers they are.
Lucy is just my baby she loves attention and is so friendly.
At least somebody is getting a feed from the broccoli as its just all leaves
Blackberry is a gorgeous girl I couldnt bare to part with her.
Finally the spaghetti squash is coming through I hope these flourish as I am yet to try the stuff, I lost my plants last year.
It really is hard being a cat in my house, and if your human its hard to find a seat with 3 cats and 2 dogs who love sitting on the seats around the table, I had somebody say the other day every time they pulled out a chair there was something sitting on it.

I really love the color combination of this pansy it has to be my favorite
Hope everyone is enjoying the school holidays x

Grand Final Saturday

I hate to tell you all I do not follow the football at all, while the majority of Australians are watching the Grand Final, as usual my tv remains off.
After a bit of a difficult morning this morning with my son I banned the xbox the ipads and the tv.
The tv was allowed back on at 5 pm the rest stays away in my cupboard.
I must say the day has been heaven, we planted tomato seeds , If they all sprout I will have 80 plants.
 The kids played games.
 They baked
 India wrote letters
Tyler made earrings [ I know unusual] I showed him how to make them and he made some lovely ones. With no help from me.
He wants this mess left there as he may do some more tommorow.
I forgot to say on Friday I called to the opp shop and found these vintage salt and pepper shakers the lady told me it holds boiled eggs. Quite cute for $3.50
 I just love Beatrix Potter
 Her illustrations are just beautiful

Hope everybody is enjoying their weekend xx

Vintage material give away

I have some beautiful vintage material its actually a pair of drapes and has backing on it so it will need to be unpicked. I imagine this material is from the 70s { such a colorful era} 70s has to be my favorite period for groovy clothes, retro furniture and funky decor. When I bring a piece of 70s home from the opp shop I get remarks like ugh that  is hideous ..... I just cant see it though I love the color , the prints, its so happy and bright and colorful and I get quite excited when I find such colorful items.
Now why am I giving this away, well I have quite a bit of colorful vintage material at the moment and my sewing is quite slow as Im just new to sewing.

Now I have 2 pieces of material and they are a good size so Im giving them away separately so that gives two lucky readers a chance to win this funky fabric. All you have to do is leave a comment that you would like to win this material, I will draw the winner on the 6 th October.
Feel free to share this post on your blog or facebook.

Our piece of Australian bush

My first real day of on the school holidays and plan to try and keep kids busy away from electronic gadgets, starting of with a breakfast of fresh eggs from our girls with scrambled eggs on toast.
The weather at the moment has been wild and windy quite scary really.
I needed some more pine needle mulch so we took a trip out to where my Dad lives on our 5 acres of beautiful Australian bush, the place is a bit over run since Mum passed away but still beautiful.

Penny , Dads dog is always so excited to see the kids and Tyler loves her.

 Indy took her ipad and took some lovely pictures of different plants. {So much for no electronics}
 A lovely camellia flower
Mum loved this protea bush the flowers look just amazing

Have no idea what these are maybe wild flowers
Sky is looking a bit wild and the wind is quite strong

Poor old wheelbarrow has seen better days

Gardens are over run with weeds I certainly need to have a working bee some day.
The land is stunningly beautiful though if you love the bush.

Strawberry mulch

In the past couple of years I havnt had to much luck with strawberries , so this year I have put plenty of manure and  have decided to use pine needle mulch, I collect this free from my Dads house. I only got a small amount yesterday {actually Dad bought it over for me } I will go out this weekend and get some more as I have decided to mulch my 3 blueberry bushes with it also, pine needles are supposed to be ideal for acid loving plants , strawberries, blueberries and rasberries so I think I will need a lot more than what I have
Not a lot of mulch here
I managed to get some around the blueberries
Not great pictures excuse the weeds this garden needs lots of work.
I forgot to post this picture on Sunday , this was taken at the Daylesford community garden, I think I may steal this idea it looks so pretty.  Now I just have to source an old bath.
