Spring is a little closer

There is just something about the oncoming of spring that is just so beautiful, almond buds waiting to burst into blossoms , I wonder if I will get almonds this year.
Nectarine tree budding, I just love Saturday mornings its my time to explore every corner of the yard, its the day I clean my guinea pig and bunny cages.  Even if its pouring rain Im outside with my pjs on , gumboots and rain coat I just love it, all the animals keep me company following my every move.
The girls are back laying although they tend to all lay in the one nest and I have a broody silky sitting on that, lucky I marked the fertilized eggs, Im praying they can be hatched, it seems to be Lucy my black silky who has taken on the role of this job , she is head honcho.
 Daffodils blooming
Bulbs are all in bud ready to bloom I just cant wait for the beautiful colors that will fill the garden

My laundry is full of seedling trays just starting to shoot through.
 Broad bean flowers
Baby sheba yak guinea pigs both are girls and they will be long hair, these girls are only a week old.
This basket is my guinea pig prop but my little audience like to be involved in everything
They dont mind sharing. The basket is on top of the tallest cage and they can sit in it and watch the birds in the trees quite well from here and comfortably as well.

The baby bunnies have grown and spend the morning inside while I clean the cages while their mummy spends the day frolicking around the backyard having a break from her kids. The bunnies become well handled and make good pets if handled often as babies.
The last few days have been terribly windy and last night was the worst , when I woke up all my chooks were wandering the backyard there gate had been blown open .
This week I bought a new chicken feeder from Royal Rooster the girls havnt worked out how to use it as yet. I bought a drinker and a feeder I have my fingers crossed they learn soon.

This is the bird the cats were keeping an eye on as when I feed the chooks a few birds hang around hoping to eat their food {hence the new feeder}. The cats are well behaved as are the dogs, they get along with the rabbits and the chooks and all live together quite happily.

  1. Your garden and animals do you proud, no one would ever guess that you hold down a job as well. I look forward to reading your posts, I do wonder if you ever sleep though.

  2. HI Pam , Thank you very much lol I do sleep , I never watch tv or rarely sit down, I like to always be doing something. My relaxation is being in the garden I find it peaceful there.

  3. Do keep me updated on feeders as i was just about to click button. Im getting thousands of sparrows pooping over everything for the girls feed. Especially if your bantams like it. Mine seem a little on the vague side. Garden is looking wonderful. You can tell alot about a person from the animals they keep. You are obviously quite energetic and capable on the outside and all gooey on the inside. My kinda gal.

  5. Still in a little bit of shock. First weekend and he was so much apart of our lives that we seem to wandering around in a bit of a fog. We are all dealing with it differently. Mine is to burst into tears every 5 minutes, Hubby keeps trying to fill the void with gumtree pets and lost dog home ads while Tom in his typical Aspie way, compartmentalises his emotions and keeps coming to me for hugs. Like i said in my original post, way back in Feb, he was the glue between us. Perhaps Hubby is right and we need another tube of glue, ie another pet to love.

    1. Hi Lynda, its an awful feeling I have kept pets all my life and so has my family we are all animal lovers so we have dealt with many losses, everyone is different in what they want after losing a pet as they are just part of the family, if it were me I think I would go with your husbands idea,it may be good for all of you.xx

  6. It seems really strange to read about spring now when we are approaching our autumn! My son is in Australia and of course they are coming up to their spring too.
