That's ok but when you have a broody chicken laying on fertilized eggs it becomes a problem.
Last time I moved the broody chicken to a seperate area but she then got of the nest and I didn't want to move this one. Not that I can as she pecks me.
So now I have a problem , retrieving the eggs the other chooks are laying , well that's a task in itself with the reflex system, it's snatch and grab if you dare.
Those two eggs I want but I can't get them while she is facing me . I have the fertilized ones marked so I can tell them apart.
This girl is one snappy Tom. Usually my silkies you can lift them up get the eggs you want and pop them back no worries at all. This girl you only have to look at the eggs and she wants your blood .
Im laughing. This is a big issue. Got to love those chickens.
ReplyDeleteI know Lynda lol it is a huge issue, I think the people next door think Im nuts, standing in the pen talking to the chickens trying to figure out how to retrieve these eggs
DeleteGoodness, if the opinion of my neighbours mattered, we'd all be locked up in the looney bin. Any idea what a house full of Aspie's sounds like?? The volume can be frightening at times. Each believe they are the KING and he who yells the loudest rules.
DeleteLol thats funny, probably not really though but the way you put it sounds funny.
Deletelol she's a beauty...hope she accomplishes her mission!

Just like a bunch of children, a room full of toys and they all want the same one. When you shop for a new whatever, the only one you love has just been snaffled by the person in front.
ReplyDeleteThats exactly right Pam
DeleteHaha I send my 15 yr old son he handles the girls better than me and comes back with the eggs....I can't find your email address dughhh
ReplyDeleteHI there it is milow@ncable.net.au
DeleteI think you need to buy a pair of leather gardening gloves so you can do battle with Mrs Chook! That way, you should be able to retrieve those eggs without injury. She is certainly a pretty chook.
ReplyDeleteCheers - Joolz xx
No I don't have that problem...yet! However, I hope to twist hubby's arm and get some chooks next year then maybe I will be coming back here to see how you solved your problem.:-)
