Home grown tomatoes

There is just nothing like a home grown tomato , I have out done myself this year with the taste of the full flavored tomatoes that are just starting to ripen. I must say they are extremely late this year, I have had many tiny Toms but my larger tomatoes are just ripening now.
I really need to be more organized in the garden as I have a very bad habit of planting different types of veges then I forget which ones they are when they grow.
Now Im kicking myself as these tomatoes that I have just picked are bursting with flavor and are extremely juicy.
I have gave my father { who is a big critic when it comes to food} the taste test and he just couldnt believe it he said he had never tasted a tomato so tasty. GRRRRRRRRRR I really would love to know what sort they are now. Im saving the seeds so I can give them a go again next year.

There is nothing like hot toast, butter, and fresh tomato and salt and pepper.

Simply the best

  1. yep nothing like a home-grown tomato. I've a terrible habit of planting things too and forgetting what they are called. A garden diary didn't work for me as I forgot to write in it.

  3. I love home grown tomatoes, there is nothing better than going to your own garden and picking a tomato straight off the plant and popping it into your mouth!

  4. That is exactly how i enjoyed the same tomato. On toast with salt and fresh ground pepper. Best breakfast. Mine ripened a few weeks ago and i think they are beefeaters. Dont quote me. Im now pulling the bushes out and so i have a few of these that are green. Stay tuned for green tomato something!

    1. HI Lynda I think I planted beefsteaks so it may be one of those ...... or maybe not lol I bet I will have a lot of green tomatoes as they are just so late they may not all ripen, I really wanted to make batches of sauce too.

    2. You are right, they are "beefsteaks". I had an order for several boxes of tomatoes from the Shep area but my nephew (truck driver) seems to have forgotten. I was going to have a sauce day with Jess in Ballan. At least she would know what she is doing.
