If you ever get the chance to visit Ballarat a beautiful spot to go for a picnic is Lake Wendouree it's also a lovely spot for a walk. Opposite the lake is the botanical gardens which is also quite pretty. A walk around the lake is 6 km.
Hard to imagine how bare it looked during the drought. You could walk across it and the grass was crunchy. Mother Nature healing itself with some help from city gardeners. My Mum enjoyed it when she was last here.
That has made me homesick for Perth, every time I go there my SIL and I walk round Piney Lakes and we also do one of the Bush Walks. I am so looking forward to my next visit.
